Fiona has over 10 years of experience working in schools, hospitals, family mediation and at the policy level and now works predominantly with adults. She is a warm, empathetic and insightful clinician who can create a strong therapeutic alliance to empower clients through purposeful change. Although sessions will feel relaxed and conversational, her approach is underpinned by a safe, non-judgmental, and evidence-based framework matched to your therapeutic goals. She seeks to support clients to establish a strong sense of meaning, hope, motivation, and future-focused direction.
Fiona has a strong interest in post-traumatic growth and positive psychology to enhance wellbeing. She is experienced in trauma informed therapy and can support clients in shifting from survival mode to a thriving mindset. Fiona uses a biopsychosocial approach, working with the whole person in the context of the environment in which they live. This includes avoiding labelling or pathologising, and understanding that mental health interacts with relationships, family and broader systems including school, workplace, community, cultural, social, sexual, and spiritual identity.
Fiona uses a variety of therapies to underpin her practice such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.
